• Centre stage, (but fortunately not in the theatre!)

An interesting turn of events at the weekend when I was rushed to the local hospital in the early hours of the morning having woken up with very nasty abdominal pain.

The kind ambulance crew delivered me to the A&E unit on a trolley and duly left me behind a drawn curtain while the staff were informed of my symptoms.

Shortly afterwards the curtain was drawn by a young male nurse whose immediate response was, "Don't I know you?" (This was definitely NOT the time to have folk puzzle over my lookey-likeyness.) I groaned in pain. "Did you used to work here?" (I replied, no) "I'm sure I've seen you somewhere before". I replied that I just happened to look like somebody famous and groaned a little louder. "Mmmm. Somebody famous," he said, looking pensive. (At this point another nurse arrived on the scene). "Mandy, who do you think this lady looks like?" "Camilla!" she replied immediately. "Oh, gosh, you do don't you! You could get work you know! OMG you've even got the mannerisms! Linda, come and see this lady, she looks just like Camilla!" Enter another nurse. (By this time I was groaning like a wounded animal and about to throw up. At this point a rather shy, middle-aged and rather nervous doctor appeared on the scene.) "Look who we've got to see you!" said Mandy, "Its Camilla!" The doctor looked excruciatingly embarrassed, (much like I was feeling.)

The word was obviously out and the doctor's fleeting visit was quickly followed by the ward cleaner, two more nurses and a surgeon. Fortunately having thrown up I was beginning to feel marginally more comfortable.

The only consolation, I decided, is that if I can manage to look like Camilla without hair coiffed, with no make-up, whilst drained of colour and throwing up then there must be a failry convincing resemblance!

(And yes, I'm home again and hopefully on the path to recovery!)
