• Two Directions

One of the huge benefits of being part of a shoot is the chance to meet up with creative people. On the last shoot I had the privilege of meeting two up and coming directors, Max Hemmings and Jonas K Lord, both of whom have already earned a name for themselves in the world of film.

Having listened to them exchange life stories from the back of a people carrier on our way back from a very long day's work in deepest Oxfordshire earlier this year, I was keen to discover their work and was suitably rewarded on viewing the results.

What I find fascinating is that, almost three months on, I am still haunted by the faces that they use in their work. Max in capturing the image of a child in his moving advert for Sydney Childrens' Hospital and Jonas in his depiction of a metamorphosis that accompanies the music of Maya Jane Coles' Comfort. Both works capture the mood and message of the piece through a human face, at once sensitive, expressive, troubled but eventually freed from pain. Take a look. You won't be disappointed.
